(b. 1969) is a Russian-born architect and urban planner.
He graduated from the Moscow Architecture Institute and the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. Since 1995, he has been collaborating with Bart Goldhoorn on the architectural magazine Project Russia, combining this work with architectural and design practices, various exhibition projects and architectural criticism. He participated in international research projects on education and urbanism, including the project Shrinking Cities, implemented in 2002-2005. From 2001 he worked as deputy editor and later as a head of the theory department of architectural magazine Project International. In recent years he has been involved in the development of urban strategies for a number of Russian cities.
In the opening days of Auditorium Moscow, Sergei Sitar will give a talk on Moscow’s social spaces, and the prospects and hurdles to their aesthetic democratization.
The project is realized as part of the International Cultural Programme of the Polish EU Presidency coordinated by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
